WRAP CERTIFICATION

As further proof of our commitment to having the highest ethical standards, we adhere to the WRAP principles. WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production) is the world’s largest facility certification programme and, whilst it is supported by the global apparel industry, it is totally independent.

WRAP is dedicated to ensuring lawful, humane and ethical manufacturing throughout the world. In order to receive certification for all our facilities and those of our suppliers we are regularly audited and must comply with the 12 WRAP principles.

These relate to areas such as workplace regulations, child labour, hours of work, health and safety, discrimination and security. Our certification shows that once again you can trust Fruit of the Loom to operate within the highest ethical and environmental standards.

OEKO-TEX ACCREDITATION

All our garments, whether made in-house or sourced, are approved to Oeko-Tex Standard 100. This certifies that our garments meet the strict Oeko-Tex 100 limits for harmful substances that none of these substances are present in critical concentrations. Oeko-Tex is an internationally renowned testing certification system for textiles.

Test criteria are standardised across the world and include tests for pH-value, pesticides and heavy metals. Only when a garment is proved to meet the strict Oeko-Tex 100 standards for harmful substances is it granted Oeko-Tex approval.

Our cotton

Quality Garments start with quality cotton

We pride ourselves on using the best fabrics to make all of our quality garments. This starts with the use of the finest raw cotton. As a company committed to the respect for human rights, we only use ethically produced yarn to manufacture our garments. We do not use Uzbekistan cotton. We also require that all of our suppliers and business partners refrain from purchasing cotton directly from Uzbekistan or knowingly sourcing yarn or textiles from suppliers that source cotton from Uzbekistan, when manufacturing any of our sourced products.

The majority of our raw cotton is from the USA. Using the best quality raw materials, our manufacturing techniques also ensure that our fabrics meet market requirements. For example, our 100% cotton T-shirts are manufactured with a fine knit gauge for unbeatable printing performance and a revolutionary knitting technique. All of our Sweats are manufactured with 100% cotton face, keeping the polyester at the back of the Sweat fabric and the cotton at the front. This technique gives each Sweat greater durability and reduced pilling performance.

Our production

Ethics and the environment are at the heart of everything we do

Fruit of the Loom® doesn’t just make garments – we make them the right way. To us, this means protecting the rights of all people we work with and doing what’s right for the environment.

We’ve set out our high standards in our own charter that we call The Fruit Code (discussed in detail below). And this doesn’t just apply to us – every supplier we work with has to meet the criteria, and we arrange for independent audits to ensure compliance.

All of our facilities are fully WRAP certified (an independent world organisation that ensures lawful, humane and ethical manufacturing), and our Moroccan affiliate’s plant has achieved a Gold Certificate of Compliance.

We only use ethically-produced yarn and all our garments are independently Oeko-Tex Standard 100 approved. Our Moroccan affiliate’s plant includes its own water-treatment facility that recycles up to 60% of the water used, returning it to the river cleaner than when it arrived. As a result of this, the river bed has completely regenerated and is once again alive with fish and wildlife.

Our ethical and environmental credentials are industry-leading. If ethical manufacturing is important to your business – and it should be – do the right thing and choose Fruit of the Loom® products.

Complete control from start to finish

Control is vitally important to Fruit of the Loom and our relationship with the huge custom-built manufacturing plant in Morocco gives us the control we need to bring you the garments you count on us for.

Situated on a site the size of around 73 football pitches, the main building is the second-largest in the whole of Africa, and the operation there are entirely self-sufficient with its own sub-station and water treatment and recycling facilities.

More than 2 million of our garments are produced there every week – and the product quality and ethical certainty of every single one of them can be assured by us. Delivery to over 75 countries!

Fruit of the Loom signs accord on fire and building safety in Bangladesh

Fruit of the Loom International Limited and our affiliates are committed to ensuring the safety of workers producing our goods in Bangladesh and throughout our supply chain. As part of that commitment, on December 16, 2013, we signed the Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh, an independent agreement designed to make all garment factories in Bangladesh safe workplaces.

At the same time, Fruit of the Loom intends to remain an active member of the Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety. We believe that participating in both the Accord and the Alliance gives us the maximum ability to ensure the safety of garment workers in Bangladesh.

Corporate Resposibility

As well as making our own, we look after our own, ensuring employees are treated with respect and in accordance with Fruit Code. A staff of almost 4,000 locally-employed people work in a multi-shift operation across production and sewing plants in Morocco, and we strive to ensure the wellbeing of our workforce with benefits including healthcare, dental care, training and transport.

Factory safety is a priority: we have a dedicated fire service, and employees always have convenient access to a fire escape in these state-of-the-art facilities.

In Morocco, our affiliate is committed to manufacturing processes that create less waste, which is why we research techniques that result in the best quality garments for decoration made in the best possible way.

And as well as quality you can trust, our close relationship with our producer in Morocco means we can deliver a service you can trust too – with up to 50 million garments always in stock, we can get you what you need, when you need it.
